Are you interested in learning more about Reiki healing? If you are, you might be ready to find a Reiki teacher or perhaps you just want to know a little bit more about the subject before you dive in headfirst. If you’re not yet sure how involved you want to become with Reiki healing, one of the first things you can do is learn how to tap into your own energy in order to heal yourself. Once you do that, it might help you decide whether or not you want to learn more about it so you can help others as well.
How do you tap into your own energy?
In reality, learning how to tap into your own Reiki energy is surprisingly easy. The first thing you need to do is find a quiet place where you can spend about 15 to 20 minutes without being disturbed. Clear your mind and spend a few minutes simply relaxing and focusing on your own breathing. If you’ve ever taken a yoga class, this part is much the same, except for the fact that you’re not standing on your head while you focus on your breathing. The next thing you will do is start rubbing your hands together. Spend a few minutes doing this, making sure to spend enough time to generate a decent amount of heat. Once you feel your hands heating up, start to slowly pull them away from each other, but only about half an inch or so. You will feel the energy pulsating between your hands. In some cases, you can even see this energy with the naked eye. This is your Reiki energy. If you prefer, you might come to think of it as the inner energy of your life force, not just involving your physical body, but your heart and soul as well.
Can you really heal yourself with this energy?
In order to heal yourself with your own Reiki energy, place your hands on the part of your body that you want to heal after you have activated your Reiki energy. While placing your hands in that particular area, focus on your intention to heal the area. For example, you might choose to activate your Reiki energy by rubbing your hands together and then, in order to heal frequent headaches, place your hands on your head. You might place one hand on either side of your head or place one hand directly over the area of pain and the other hand in a corresponding area on your head, typically directly opposite wherever your other hand is resting. While you’re doing this, focus on your desire to be rid of those headaches and mentally picture the energy physically entering your body. You can do this for five minutes or 20 minutes, however long it takes for you to feel that you’ve had an effective Reiki session. When you’re finished, spend an additional few minutes in quiet meditation and focus on your breathing. Picture yourself taking in additional positive energy and let anything that might be dragging you down go. This ensures that you don’t end up feeling drained from your own Reiki session and that you’re ready to take on whatever challenges come next.
Once you feel like you’re pretty good at healing yourself with Reiki, you might be interested in taking a class that allows you to continue that practice while helping other individuals. By the same token, you may decide to simply focus on yourself and your loved ones.
